What qualifies

  • Clothing and footwear: No price limit on qualifying items
  • School supplies: No price limit on qualifying items
  • Computers, printers, supplies, and eligible software: No price limit on qualifying items
  • Certain bed and bath items: No price limit on qualifying items

Do online purchases count?

Qualifying online purchases are exempt when the transaction occurs during the holiday using South Carolina time and satisfies the state’s order rules.

State and local tax treatment

The exemption applies to state and local sales tax. Retailer participation is mandatory.

Important limitation

Business-use purchases, layaway transactions, smartphones, and several device categories are excluded.
