What we publish
It May Concern turns fragmented state guidance into a consistent consumer reference: dates, qualifying categories, price limits, online-order treatment, local-tax treatment, and the most important exception.
Source hierarchy
- State or territorial revenue department guidance.
- Enacted legislation or an official administrative bulletin.
- Official FAQs and item lists.
- Reputable tax-compliance summaries used only to identify changes that still require primary-source confirmation.
Update standard
Each state page displays a source-check date. The site performs a weekly automated source-availability check, but a human must review any substantive rule change before publication.
What the calculator does
The calculator multiplies the user-entered eligible subtotal by the user-entered combined sales tax rate. It does not decide whether an item qualifies, determine the correct local rate, or account for partial exemptions unless the user adjusts the eligible subtotal or rate.
Corrections
Material corrections are dated and described. Send a correction through the contact page with the state, disputed statement, and an official source.
