About It May Concern
Every fall, about 71 million people get a notice from Social Security that begins, in effect, “this may concern you”. It May Concern explains what’s in that notice before it arrives, in plain English.
What we do
- Preview your January deposit with the COLA, the Medicare premium and the rules that apply to you.
- Explain each change with its official source and a clear label: official, projected or estimated.
- Update the site the day an official number comes out, and log every change publicly.
What we are not
We are not the Social Security Administration, Medicare or any government agency, and we’re not affiliated with them. We can’t see your records, answer questions about your personal case, or change anything with SSA. We don’t give financial, legal or tax advice. For your official amounts, use your my Social Security account or call SSA at 1-800-772-1213.
How we’re funded
The site has no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no sign-up. It’s run by a small independent team. If that ever changes, we’ll say so on this page.
How we work
Figures come from primary sources: SSA, CMS, the Medicare trustees and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Outside forecasts are named and labeled. Read how we calculate, our corrections policy and the full source list.
