  • Qualifying backpacks and newly covered items: Less than $300 per item, subject to the official list

Do online purchases count?

A qualifying online item paid for in full during the week is exempt even when it is delivered after the holiday ends.

State and local tax treatment

Connecticut has no local sales tax, so the exemption applies to the state sales tax.

Important limitation

Protective equipment, accessories, and sports equipment can be excluded. Use the official eligible-item examples for borderline products.
